Product & Delivery Updates

March 15, 2024: Announcing the closure of our online store

At the end of this month, we will be closing the FoodShare online shop (formerly Good Food Box). The last date to place an order is March 22, 2024 at 4pm and the final delivery date for household orders will be March 30, 2024.

You do not need to take any action to modify or cancel your ongoing subscription. Your recurring order will automatically be canceled after the order window closes on Friday March 22.

You can learn more about the tough decision to close our online shop below and check out these produce shopping alternatives:

If you have a group of 20+ people who want to sign up for a regular produce box delivery with a central drop off point, you can also become a bulk box purchaser. Groups can also buy fresh produce in bulk from FoodShare with a minimum order size. Learn more about our group buying options here.

If you’re looking for other opportunities to support local food sales and growing you can look for your local Community Market Partner on this map

You can sign up for a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) subscription from local farms like:

Thank you for choosing to buy your household’s fresh produce from FoodShare. Whether you have been a regular weekly or monthly subscriber or you’ve purchased from us once or twice you have shown up for food justice and we’re deeply grateful.

Our social enterprise has always been intended to generate a surplus for FoodShare that we could reinvest into our food justice programs and advocacy.

Unfortunately, as many folks return to in-person shopping the decline in regular subscribers along with the rising cost of operating the shop have meant that operating an online model is no longer bringing in those much-needed funds.

Moving forward, our dedicated team of warehouse workers and drivers will continue to procure and deliver fresh, delicious produce to our community-led market partners across the city, as well as be looking to grow our sales of wholesale produce and bulk produce boxes, as outlined above in the alternative ways to shop section.

While we may not be at your doorstep going forward, we'd love it if you stay in touch with us by:

Thank you for your support,

December 6, 2023: Holiday Delivery Schedule & Updated 2024 Delivery Schedule

FoodShare’s Social Enterprise team — the wonderful people who pack and deliver your orders — will be taking some well-deserved time off from December 23 to January 8. During this time, there will be no deliveries of online orders.

Please note that if your regular delivery day is Saturday, your order will be delivered on Friday (December 22) that week as our team prepares to shut down for the break. If you need to receive your items in time for December 25, the deadline for ordering is December 15 at 4pm.

Regular delivery will resume the week of January 8, 2024.

May 12, 2023: Price Increase

FoodShare produce box and delivery fees are set to increase as of June 2, 2023.

Our operations at FoodShare have been impacted by inflation and the associated rise in the cost of food, and we would never want to sacrifice quality or hinder our team's ability to deliver fresh, delicious produce to doorsteps just like yours all across Toronto.

Given our status as a non-profit organization operating a social enterprise where proceeds support food justice work, we are unfortunately in a position where increasing our pricing is required.

Be assured that in operating our social enterprise, we are not looking to profit in ways that benefit shareholders or anyone other than the communities we work alongside, and that we are committed to keeping pricing as affordable to our subscribers as possible. Our delivery fees remain lower than other grocery delivery services.

We're grateful you choose to buy from FoodShare. By subscribing, you help us:

February 24, 2022: Bread Update

Due to supply chain issues, Mabel’s will no longer be able to supply bread for the Good Food Box shop.

The good news is, Spent Goods is back! After a brief hiatus due to production location issues in 2021, Spent Goods has returned with some new products in the Good Food Box shop. All new bread products are 100% vegan and made in Toronto using 'spent grains'.

For customers with existing bread orders:

Your regular bread will automatically be replaced with the new Sesame Sourdough. The usual Mabel’s price will be honoured for the March 25th order cut-off (following week's delivery) only. Going forward, if you have a regular bread subscription you will be charged the new product price (please refer to product page for new prices).

If you would like to change or cancel your subscription, please do so by Thursday at 11:59pm. You can find detailed instructions on how to manage your subscription here.

Please note: you do not need to manually change this week’s order to the new bread product. Doing so will result in you being charged the new bread price rather than having the original price honoured.

Should you have any questions please contact

February 17, 2022: Price Increase

Prices for Good Food Boxes in our online shop will increase as of March 1, 2022.

The decision to raise prices was not made lightly. Our operations at FoodShare have been impacted by challenges to the supply chain and rising food prices, and we never want to sacrifice quality or hinder our team’s ability to deliver fresh, delicious produce to doorsteps just like yours all across Toronto.

While we run a social enterprise, we are committed to keeping pricing as affordable to our community as possible (listen to FoodShare’s Executive Director Paul Taylor explain how and why here) and to lowering prices for the Good Food Box should food prices come down.

We’re grateful you choose to buy from FoodShare. By subscribing you help us to:

  • Pay fair wages to our team and provide benefits including permanent sick leave.
  • Pay fair prices to our suppliers, many of whom are local farmers.
  • Direct surplus to fund important food justice work in the community.
